Top 40 Places to Visit in Lahaul & Spiti
The Ultimate 2026 Bucket List for the Trans-Himalayan Cold Desert.
Jump to Region
The district of Lahaul and Spiti in Himachal Pradesh is a vast, high-altitude cold desert. Though administered as a single district, Lahaul and Spiti are two entirely distinct valleys separated by the mighty Kunzum Pass. Lahaul is relatively greener, fed by the Chandra and Bhaga rivers, and serves as the gateway to Leh. Spiti, on the other hand, is completely barren, steeped in ancient Tibetan Buddhist culture, and dotted with gravity-defying monasteries.
If you are planning the ultimate Himalayan road trip, here are the top 40 places you absolutely must visit across both valleys.
